SPYC offers a diverse and exciting Offshore Racing Program. Whether Fall Bay Race, Long Distance Race, Mexico Race, Twilight Sailing, or the fun-filled Fiesta De Sol celebration... Offshore has much to offer for the boating enthusiast looking for fun, competition, and exciting adventures.
PHRF RACING
The Club has always been active in PHRF racing. We host the annual Fall Bay Race with over 60 boats in attendance. Our Long Distance Race is an overnight event. We have sponsored the Regata Del Sol Al Sol from St. Petersburg to Isla Mujeres, Mexico for many years. In addition, SPYC has been a part of the NOOD circuit for the past 5 years. Think Twilight 2010
We will begin our Twilight Series on March 19th
Therefore at precisely 6:30pm – with any luck – some of us will be out on Tampa Bay, just off the Pier, and we will be racing.
As usual there will be racing divisions: Two Spinnaker classes, a Non-spinnaker and a true cruising class. If you bring a minimum of five(5) one designs we’ll form a class for you.
Weather permitting, we will be out there every Friday through the end of August. After the race we usually gather at the Tiki Hut and analyze our performances and, with some more luck, check the results and have a beer. Obtain your PHRF rating at www.westfloridaphrf.org and check our website www.spyc.org for the Notice of Race.
